BURKE ANNOUNCES PASSAGE OF BILL TO REQUIRE THE
POW/MIA FLAG BE DISPLAYED AT OHIO REST STOPS
COLUMBUS—State Senator Dave Burke (R- Marysville) announced that the Ohio Senate approved Senate Bill 222 yesterday, his legislation that would require the POW/MIA flag to be displayed in addition to the U.S. flag and the Ohio state flag at rest areas along the Ohio Turnpike and Ohio interstate highways. Current Ohio law encourages the POW/MIA to be flown but does not require it.
“I feel there is no price to pay that is larger than the price these missing soldiers have paid. As citizens travel north, south, east and west on our wonderful highways and turnpike, I would like them to understand how much Ohio cherishes the sacrifice these veterans have made for our freedom,” Burke said. “This bill is in honor of those veterans who have chosen to serve this country selflessly. Furthermore, we will never forget the POWs/MIAs who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.”
Senate Bill 222 now moves to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
